Default Cruise control does not work

I push the cruise button and it lights up, but when I press +, engine will rev slightly and then the rpm drops. I have searched and have not found anybody posting with the same problem, so can anybody point me in the right direction?

The '97 - '98 cruise control is dramatically different from the later MYs. Perhaps you could add your model and model year to your signature. I do not know anything about a 73 Dodge Charger

Hey Randy, you wouldn't happen to be driving Michael Weston's Charger, would you? I used to own a 73 Charger. I didn't appreciate it at the time. I sure wish I had it back now.

Another Burn Notice fan. Great show, too bad it is getting a bit repetitive. Sorry, I'm pulling this off topic.

There are a large number of OBDII codes that first disable the cruise control and only set the CEL after a number of cycle failures. Has the CEL come on? The cruise set button advises the ECM to manage the throttle position to that point. If it is truly a cruise control issue it is probably a connector issue.

Well . . . I did have a '69 Challenger, the Charger's little brother. Looked a lot like the XK8 . . . from 400 yards away.

That's 80% Jaguar XK8 from an off-topic standpoint.

Sorry, but they didn't start making Challengers until 1970.

I had a 1971 Challenger with a 383 engine. Good looking, great engine, great transmission, junk body work and bad rear axle.

The new model look-a-like Challengers look good on paper, but they're still "new" Chrysler products--and can run $40K with a Hemi. I'd rather have something else--like a pre-owned Jaguar XKR.

Sorry, bought it used in '71. Thought it was a '69 but that was 40 years ago.

40 years ago AND the 1970s...lots of unintended "memory fade" in the 1970s. Sure did love those Wendy's triples though.

Nope, same year, but mine is a triple black Rallye.

I have a 70 Cuda 383, challengers cousin, that I am about to restore. I had a code when I fist got the car, but none since. Is there something I can do to reset the memory for codes?
