Let's see... I've made two trips down to the G'ville area (Gainesville, Florida) at 1k miles round trip each time and spent a week over in Kentucky visiting bourbon distilleries the month after picking up my xk8, for another 800 miles or so of driving. It's slightly older and more driven then yours if yours is a 2003 with 69k (2001 with 73k here) and I had absolutely zero issues. Heading over to Ashville, NC in the morning and expect no issues.

Be prepared of course, but if you haven't been having issues then I'd expect no issues.

Sometimes forums like this make cars seem less reliable than they really are. This forum is a great tool when you are having trouble and thats what the majority of the posts are about. Go to any car forum for any make and you will see mostly posts about issues. Have the car in for a quick once over for piece of mind then enjoy your trip.

Well back from the trip. Turned over 70K and now at 70,300 ish.

No specific issues other that one we will continue to watch.

Heading down, we felt some shuddering in acceleration in the 35-45 mph range. Its was not like the engine was choking, just a feeling in the ride. It was sumbtle in its nature, like a lag, or at times lugging an anchor. I will say it was a change in accellration rather than a change in velocity. Never really experienced it in constant. We were having gusty winds (avg 5 with gusts to 25-30). We observed for the rest of the journey. Seemed to always sync up to the winds.

Will continue to observe.

I do think we are going to get the front end re-done (shock tower bushings, wishbone bushings, sway bar bushings, etc) before the trip to NC. I am certain I will not have the time though the members here are great about showing DIY, so an indy will get the nod (and a chunk of the IRS refund).
