Dad got his body kit on the XKR

Not as bad looking as I would have thought if described to me, but not something I would keep on the car. It breaks up the great lines of the hood (bonnet), which is one of my favorite parts of the car.
As to any damage in removing it, depends on how it was attached. If you're lucky it is glued. Otherwise, some repair may be needed.

Is it just me or does the body kit make the front end look too similar to the last Chevy Camaro before the one out now? and that rear end? Looks like a Hyundai Tiburon. I prefere the classic look, lines, bulges of the unfettered XK body.
Timeless design. the only thing I would improve on is the tail lamps on my 98.

My humble opionion is that a design this beautiful cannot be improved with kits.. Only thing that might improve the looks of the car is some nice wheels suiting the general shape of the car, and perhaps minor lowering. Apart from that I think it is a shame mounting kits.
On my Maserati, everything I've done to it bodywise are parts bought from
Maserati, beeing fitted to later cars. Like on the jag, perhaps chrome surrounds on the rear lights, white\clear blinkers and perhaps the updated rear lights.
My 2cents...
Cheers, Jarle

I prefer the look of the XK8s and XKRs the way they came from the factory. Any money spend can be deducted from the resale value x2. I'm reminded of the '63 corvette owners that cut the rear window pillar to install '64 rear windows. I'm sure they are sorry now. When I was looking for an XK8 I actually turned one down because they installed a leaper on the hood. I just couldn't get past drilling holes in the hood. That's my nickel, Canada eliminated the penny this year so I can't give my 2 cents.

Since it's so difficult to track down information about Jaguar XK8/XKR kits... I guess I'll just add to this thread to help everyone find the information in one place. Enjoy!
Here's a kit that will transform older XK8/XKRs to the latest XK-style body panels.
It's sold by Paragon in the UK.
They quote approximately $4,000 for the 4-piece kit on their site.
It's a bolt-on kit, so for the PURISTS, it can easily be removed and the original nose, skirts, and rear bumper re-mounted.
Here's what Paragon Design UK calls its "08 Kit":

I might go as far as adding those new style fender gills to my 01 !

To be honest, I don't think there's any thing wrong with modifying our cars. It's what keeps things interesting!! I never quite get when someone posts a pic of a factory model with no upgrades and everyone raves how amazing it is. I can appreciate a classic car but come on, they can get redundant.
Lets face it, the modified cars are the ones that start conversations and keep people fascinated! Now, don't get me wrong, I do think there's a fine line as to how far someone can go. But, that being said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!!
Personally, I can't stand the thought of having a cookie cutter car and seeing myself on the road. And I'd be lying if I said I don't get a tingle when someone with my same model actually stares at my car and say, "wow! I've never seen an xk8 like that! It's hot!" Not to mention my XF

IMHO - I like the sexy curvaceousness of the XKR/8's amost as much as that of the XKE's - even better in the windshield slant - the E-type's is too upright. But what bothers me is that the Chrysler Sebring borrows heavily in some ways, but, of course, not in the sexy curves. It, and other vehicles, have taillights that seemed to come from the same designer, so I'd like a different taillight look, maybe much the same shape but more "prismatic" like some new cars. I do not like the white LEDs around the headlights as instigated by Audi then other German cars. And I disagree with Clarkson et al on Top Gear that the wood trim is dated. The GPS is dated but useful, but I miss having more gauges. My 2 cents.
