Seems to be the way of the world these days, sigh. It's always someone else's fault no matter what happens. He's obviously got a copy of 'Lame excuses for idiot drivers'. It's a large book, I believe.

Good luck with getting it sorted and my apologies for dragging the thread completely OT.

My fault for dragging OT! 🤣

Thanks for your kind support Michael, I will just wait and see, not expecting anything. Main thing is I have my S1 XKR perfect now. She will always be an original S1 1999 to me, albeit with a couple of original OEM donor parts on the back, so all is good and I will never sell, mine for life 👍👍

Do you have value-agreed insurance? I pay around £165 pa for £14,000 cover. There are mileage restrictions with that, but the cover increases at every valuation (or has done to date) with little effect on the premium.
I had it wirh Grundy. No mileage restrictions but i could not drive it to work, store, errand, to dinner, to friends house and park outside. It was BS. I never drove it and had to go start it and come up to temp. I dropped it and went back on normal insurance but I've got a much better quote from another company and much much less restricted. There aren't any car shows and basically Grundy wanted it garaged or to a 1 day car show. Or just out on a drive. At the price of gas I don't just go drive. Well actually I never did that. I've not had the opportunity to review the new company quote thoroughly.

Well said. It is unfortunate that the insurers see us guys as an easy target.... You think you have it bad in the US my friend!!! Premium unleaded in UK is now £1.90 a litre!! About $2.40 in your money. UK has the most expensive petrol in the world. I just drive 5 miles to the golf course and back now.

Thanks friend and best regards.

Smitty 😀👍

It has the XKR bonnet (hood) louvres, but has the earlier series 1 alloys from the XK8, it has the chrome plinth above the rear number plate, so it looks like a 2002 or later model. Is it the 4.2?

and has the naturally aspirated V8 green badge on the nose... the supercharged models have a red badge on the nose. God I am so sad 🤣

It is a lovely example whatever, put me out of my misery? Love the silver with the roadster xxx

I am going to stick my neck out here and say it is a 2002 XKR Cabrio (obviously) and it would be one of the 4.0 litre steel cylinder lined models, mine has the Nikasil Cylinder linings, which were good but ruined by the high Sulphur content in the early cheap petrol in the 90s

We Brits do have a slightly bigger gallon.

...but not much

Thankfully fuel is cheaper here than UK.

...but not much

I took the chrome plenth off my 2001 XK8. This is a 2004 XKR 4.2 YES. It had an ugly paint color Plenth so before the 2001 that got rear ended got taken away, I swapped them out. It looks much better with the platinum body color.
