Details on Win7 64 bit new install method & new JTIS21 XK series archive

Hi mlbmark1
When JTIS gives the message "to install the CD". It is telling you that it cannot find the Data files.
Look at post# 18 in the "Details on JTIS21 win7 64 install method & new archives" thread:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...26/#post461414
Send me a private message with your telephone number, if you cannot resolve it or have trouble trying to delete jjtis.ini file in order to recreate the file that has correct contents.
Then I will call you and talk you through how to fix it. This should not take long to fix.

Hi Oyster
The JTIS software install creates a jjtis.ini file (that tells the software what folder the data files are in).
I noticed that when I run the jjtis.exe in the C:\jaguar folder that it is using the JJTIS.INI file located in C:\Users/User/APPData/Local/VitualStore/Windows folder.
Note: C:\Users then User (substitute your user account name on your win7 PC for User).
Sounds like you are missing the jjtis.ini file in that folder.
You may have the jjtis.ini is in another folder on your PC.
Do a search on your PC using search term jjtis.ini.
If you do, then copy it into the C:\Users/User/APPData/Local/VitualStore/Windows folder (substitute your user account name on your win7 PC for User).

Hi Jim,
Your solution worked. I actually had that file in the path you mentioned, but I also found the file somewhere else using the search function. Substituted the first one with the one I found, and all works fine.
Thanks a lot. I am deeply grateful. If you ever get to Norway I'll buy you a beer or ten.

Hi Tony
Your Vista 64 bit is probably the same as the Win7 64 operating system when it comes to registering dll files.
The regsvr32.exe probably is in the same folder C:\Windows\SysWOW64.
The best way to handle the registration of the dao350.dll is to:
create a new folder in the C drive as C:\DAO
copy the dao350.dll into the C:\DAO folder
select cmd.exe file (right click - use run as administator)
then copy this command line and paste into the command screen so it can be run:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\regsvr32.exe "C:\DAO\dao350.dll"
now just press the enter key to run the command
next you should get a popup telling you the the dao350.dll has been successfully registered.

WOOHOO!!! This WORKED! I was freaking out because I'm driving two hours to help someone with their XK8 and I realized late last night that I no longer have the XP machine that I used to use to run the JTIS. I downloaded this this morning PRAYING that it would work. I'd hate to drive two hours and then not have the information I need to help someone.
THANK YOU JIMLOMBARDI, PLUMS, AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO MADE THIS WORK!
(By the way... I didn't really pray. I'm not that kind of Reverend.)

Hi timesnow
Well it been awhile since I had a vista 32 install inquiry.
You may run into a sag with the vista security when you try to register the dao350.dll.
Here is what I suggest trying.
You will probably have to disable the User Account Control (UAC) to successfully register the dao350.dll
In Windows Vista, UAC and its Admin Approval Mode are enabled by default. When UAC is enabled, local administrator accounts run as standard user accounts. This means that when a member of the local Administrators group logs on, they run with their administrative privileges disabled.
Open up Control Panel, and type in “UAC” into the search box. You’ll see a link for “Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off”:
On the next screen you should uncheck the box for “Use User Account Control (UAC)”, and then click on the OK button.
You’ll need to reboot your computer before the changes take effect, but you should be all done with annoying prompts.
Create a new folder in the C drive as C:\DAO
Copy dao350.dll into the C:\DAO folder
You will have to find the cmd.exe file (command line program file) and run it by click on it, I think it is in the C:\Windows\System32 folder.
then copy this command line and paste into the command screen so it can be run:
C:\Windows\System32\regsvr32.exe "C:\DAO\dao350.dll"
now just press the enter key to run the command
next you should get a popup telling you the the dao350.dll has been successfully registered.
You should go to the General Tech Section - in the following thread (see its post# 39) - links to download files on dropbox.com:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...rchives-65926/ (you probably can skip the win7 64 bit install pdf file, but you will need the rest of the files)
Here are the weblinks for the all jaguar models JTIS21 Archive files downloads on dropbox.com
Part1.exe is 190 mb (195313 kb)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/fvdg6rsl63...20CD.part1.exe
Part2.rar is 190 mb (195313 kb)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bwx4uch8m9...20CD.part2.rar
Part3.rar is 58.9 mb (60318 kb)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/xk49mq38ch...20CD.part3.rar
Then run the part1.exe for the all model JTIS21.
After you are using the JTIS without having any issues, then turn the UAC (User Account Control) back on.

Hi Dave
Looks good - now I am not sure where you placed the JTIS files you extracted by running the JTIS21 CD.part1.exe.
My perferred destination folder to place the extracted files is C:\JTIS21.
Here is a screenshot of the folder and the files:
You can make a new folder (C:\JTIS21) and move the files from where you put them to the new folder.
Then run the setup.exe that is now in C:\JTIS21 folder (it will install the software).
Here is a PDF file on How to use the JTIS21 software:

Hi Jim and thank you very much.
I used the setup.exe file and it's all installed and working as far as I can tell. It said that I had not got the DAO file, but after restarting my pooter it all seems to be working just fine.
So I think I have a working version of the workshop manual for my car, next would be a parts catalogue and whatever IDS is?
Any ideas????
Many thanks again
Dave

Hi.
You can download Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog (JEPC). Do a search or look in sticky section.
IDS stands for Itegrated Diagnostic System. This is a fairly complicated issue with lots of changes and upgrades through the years. To make it simpel you can buy a cheap OBD II (On Board Diagnostics) reader, plug it into your car and read generic failure codes which again can be decoded from a list in your JTIS. To get Jaguar specific codes you will need a system that is way too expensive to most of us.
