Details on Win7 64 bit new install method & new JTIS21 XK series archive
#41
I finally pulled out the old PC laptop (normally I use a mac) and downloaded the JTIS files (for XK only). Everything went OK and I got the successful install message. I found the JTIS exe application in my folder and fired it up.
I can run the application and the main screen comes up, but when I click on the Service icon to select model and year I get the following error: "JJTIS MFC Application has stopped working." This is a Microsoft error (aren't they all?) that only allows me to close the program.
I am trying to run this on an Acer Intel dual pentium with Vista 32.
Did I do something wrong or have I missed a step? I'm rusty on PC platforms, so that doesn't improve things. Any help is appreciated.

Hi.
You can download Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog (JEPC). Do a search or look in sticky section.
IDS stands for Itegrated Diagnostic System. This is a fairly complicated issue with lots of changes and upgrades through the years. To make it simpel you can buy a cheap OBD II (On Board Diagnostics) reader, plug it into your car and read generic failure codes which again can be decoded from a list in your JTIS. To get Jaguar specific codes you will need a system that is way too expensive to most of us.

Hi OYSTER and thank you very much.
I now have JTIS & JEPC working on my 32-bit Vista machine so I'm very chuffed.
The next step for me is to get a Mongoose or similar cable and software so I can now talk to my cars' systems.
I would like to thank all those members who helped me to get these systems to work on my machine - it is much appreciated.
Maybe now I'm sufficiently tooled up to give back some help to others.
Cheers

Hi Mike
I have seen this issue before.
Looks like you have not registered the dao350.dll.
I purposely skipped registering the dao350.dll to see what would happen.
I ran the setup.exe in the jtis21 folder and rebooted the PC.
When the PC finished the restart, I ran the JTIS shortcut. When I tried the Service menu for model selection I had the following results:
there were no models listed and there was this popup error message
"JJTIS MFC Applicaion has stopped working"
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly"
"Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Dave
Look at post# 36 - you need to follow the instructions for Vista 32 operating system to register the dao350.dll.
Looks like that is the only part of the install that you need to do.
The dao350.dll file is contained in the JTIS21 archive files you downloaded.
It is in the JTIS destination folder you used during the part1.exe (extraction process).
Summary of what you need to do:
Disable the UAC User Account Control
follow the other steps, reboot PC, create C:\DAO folder, copy dao350.dll to C:/DAO folder, register da0350.dll
After you successfully register da0350.dll, reboot PC and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the reply Jim. I will try that tonight and see if it fixes the problem.
Still wish I could use the Mac without running a virtual MS partition.
That fixed it. Everything seems to be working, although the manual was clearly designed by the same engineers who built the cars...it's not very intuitive, but useful once you get the hang of it.

I put the JTIS archive files up on my dropbox account. I have had no problems with the downloads on the dropbox.com site.
When the dropbox webpage opens, just click on the download button and use the run option on the popup.
Here are the weblinks to the all models (JTIS21) archives files.
Part1.exe is 190 mb (195313 kb)

Intallation problem
Hi Jim,
I downloaded and installed all files as outlined here, going slowly and carefully, on my Win Pro 64bit. No error messages appeared at any point. Registration of the DAO350.dll file through DOS was successful. Lots of files in the JTIS21 folder. But...
The C:\Jaguar folder was not created so I can't start the program. Is there a way to start it directly from the JTIS folder? Or ...??
I would be most grateful for any help or suggestions.
