Default Diagnostics

Can anyone tell me if the jaguar IDS/SSD software can operate the various knobs and button on our cars as the software for BMW can, so as to operate such things as wipers/windows/ folding roof etc?

There are some diagnostic tests that you can run but it generally does not give you a "soft" version of the physical buttons in the car such that you can press them to perform normal functions like radio, climate control, etc.

On my previous cars (BMW) I could operate the various parts of the car from the test equipment . I cannot seem to be able to do this with this car X100. Not being able to do this on the X100 is a definite drawback. I am thinking of down loading the Ford/Jaguar SCP data for a number of module interactions and replicating them from an external item such as a raspberry via the diagnostic socket so as to diagnose the faulty module's. Has anyone already done that?

It is possible to do what you are thinking. A few, me included, have done something similar with the CAN bus but I am not aware of any projects that interface to the SCP network.

Before I get involved in my previous comments, the reason I am thinking of that, is my car will not enter the key programming mode. My car will not light up the led on the J panel after flashing the headlights etc. I have tried to look at the electric circuits to resolve the problem but find the Jaguar circuits missing Fig 13.2 and 13.3 which shows the wiring so I can trace the fault. Has anyone got these pages in the 1999 electrical manual? I need to know the colour of the wire on the LED and where does it go.

Hi,
It sounds like you're trying to program the fobs?
In this event the BPM sends headlamp flash on & off messages to the SLM (via SCP) in order to 'arm' it for fob programming.

Programming the keys requires dealer-type software. Pages 13.2 and 13.3 include the car security (KTM, etc.) As you have found, they are missing until, IIRC, the 2003 JTIS electrical diagrams.

I've attached some rather disjointed snippets of 13.3 from the 98 which will be the same or very similar.

I have pieced together the items you were kind enough to send me but everything is missing left of security and locking /, Engine compartment fuse box / and key transponder / engine control module's. I would be most grateful if you could send the left hand side of your drawing. I presume page 13.2 has nothing of importance on it to help.
You don't know how much this helps me.

Hi Brian,
Attached 13-3-1 is the left hand side of the diagram 13-3-2. It's in a mosaic so I appreciate it's not ideal.

I'm not certain if it's page 13.2 or 13.3. On reflection, it is likely to be 13.2 as references to 13.3 in JTIS include the horns, which aren't present on this diagram.

You can get a copy of the 2003 JTIS Electrical Guide from member Gus' site here:
http://www.jagrepair.com/images/Auto.../jagxk2003.pdf

It does contain a page 13.2, but there may be detail differences.

For older cars SDD will simply run the IDS (or WDS) version when needed for programming, data collection, etc, so long as you are running the JLR version of it.
