Do I need a Jag Expert to Reset ECU?
#21
Normally, this type of programming is done just once for a given set of parts. In other words, the ECU should not need to be re-coded if the parts have not changed. This ECU coding is typically done with the "dealer" software IDS/SDD running on a laptop. It allows the configuration of the ECU, from coding a VIN all the way to describing what modules are installed and what version (VCATS), as well as country-specific options. This type of work becomes sometimes necessary when the ECU is replaced, or modules of different version are introduced. This is unlikely to help you in this instance, it seems like. You might have to focus on those seat modules as they may have finally failed. Start by swapping them driver/passenger. For the coolant, the float sometimes get water logged and shows funky errors. You might have to test the sensor and replace the tank if necessary.
Best of luck, keep us posted.

Yes any decent mechanic can swap the seat module.
I feel your frustration. I think most of us thought to ourselves that the swap is so easy you might be inclined to do it. I now can see that is not on the table, there are any number of reasons for that. I understand.
Friendly feedback and opportunity for others in the future: if there's no chance your going to do the work yourself, just say so. That will save a lot of explaining on our side, and especially frustration on your side. If your not going to do the work but would like to understand options to explain to the mechanic- that's ok too. Just tell us mate.
Hope this helps, thanks for your patience.
