Talking Donelly mirror quick fix

I had the dreaded "bleeding mirror" issue in my 99 XK8. Here is what I did to fix it and it took all of 10 minutes and you don't need to be a mechanical genius. I purchased on Ebay a mirror from an '07 Acura TL for $45 (free shipping) then proceeded to take both it and my mirror apart. The Acura was basic with only Auto dim. Mine had Auto headlights, so the plugs and circuit board were different. There are 2 wires that go from the circuit board to the mirror itself. those 2 wires are attached to the circuit board via a very small connector. Unplug the connector, pry off the circuit board from the sticky foam tape and replace with the circuit board from the Jag mirror. Plug in the connector, Super glue the mirror housing back together and you are done. It took maybe 10 minutes and works great. I tossed the Acura housing but kept the metal clip that mounts the mirror to the windscreen, so if anyone needs that clip, PM me and I will mail it to you gratis. Also, the Acura mirror is the exact same, right down to the same part number molded into the back of the housing.

That's why they call you Dr. Fixit. The rest of us will probably continue to send our mirrors out to be repaired. But for those who want to DIY, maybe you could post up a set of pics to compliment the tutorial.

Bet the dealer price on the Acura mirror is
substantially less than the Jaguar mirror.

I was in a rush to get it done, had to go someplace. I still have the donor mirror and parts, so will try to recreate via pics later today.
