Question Don't want to miss damage

Hello All

First, thanks for the help with the rear window, it's fixed! Sine then however, I hit a curb... Really hard!

I was going about 30 mph but managed and hit a high curb on the passenger side. Both passenger side tires are blown and both rims damaged. The rubber wheel well lining is shot as well. It's at the dealership being assessed (they are actually the cheapest place for tires) and have said that the power steering rack is shot. I have to file this as a claim on my insurance since it looks like the damage will be pretty costly, sooooo, my question is this:

I need to be very sure that the dealership finds anything else that would have likely been damaged. They have. A history of missing stuff and I need to make sure that it all gets included in the insurance estimate.

Are the things that I should ask them to be sure and look for?

It doesn't help that the service manager in charge of my car knows I gave him a poor review in the past

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks
Steph

Isn't your insurance company willing to have their claims adjuster come out to assess the car themselves? Normally they will then agree to keep the claim open if anything surfaces that is not visible if they have fully documented the condition themselves.

If the impact has been sufficient to wreck the steering rack, a close inspection of the aluminium front cross member for cracks or distortion would be prudent.

The insurance company will come out but they usually rely on the mechanic for assessing the "internal damage." I've spent so much on this car over the last year getting it good shape, I just can't afford to miss anything that was damaged in the curb incident.

I'll have them look at the front cross!! Thanks!!!

With that much damage, I'd take it (or better yet, have it towed) to your trusted body shop, they'll do all the work on the suspension, fender, wheels, even the steering rack...for much less than the dealer will be 'billing' your insurance. Front suspension damage is also very likely with the aluminum control arms. Sway bar is probably tweaked too...maybe that entire wheel hub.

tough call, but with said 'past review' of the delaership perhaps in recent memory, a neutral party of suitable competency would be prudent.

+1 on H20boy I'm afraid.
If you've bent the steering rack I reckon it is unlikely the suspension has survived undamaged.
