Door Hinges

The door has 2 hinges and one check arm I call a damper or stay but regardless of what it is called the stay often emits a clocking noise when it is not lubricated. I use white lithium grease on the top, middle and bottom. Not a lot just only what is necessary. WD40 is great for short term lubricating and cleaning.
When are you going to open up my account so I can see this diagram?

If the lubrication does not fix it then check the door hinges and see if they are tight. I have seen on a few older cars when neglected (never lubricated) can develop flat spots on the door pin. Let me ask if your window drops when you open the door and return when you close the door?

may be time to see your dealer, drop by to say hi, tell the service guy you just bought this car, and were trying to find the best place for maintenance in the future. While in discussion about how you like your car, mention 'that damn door creaking noise' and see if he volunteers to take a look. That'll be a freebie, guaranteed.

OK have the same problem on a 2001 XKR 50K miles drivers side door, pops when closing at 3/4 and 1/4 closed. It was the #6 bolt 10mm small socket just tighten it up and greased all the hinges just to be safe. Noise fixed. You have to love this forum

Apologies for bumping this ancient thread, but I've tried all the suggested remedies above, tightening all the bolts I can find on the stay, but to no avail. I even cleaned the whole area using compressed air and then regreased. If anything, the popping is louder than ever
Does anyone have any other suggestions, or am I looking at stripping the door down and possibly fitting a new stay?
