Default Drivers Door Is Dead

2000 XK8 Coupe 147K. My wife complained 2 weeks ago that her driver window switch was inop then it started to work for no reason. It has happened again. The following are inop: ls and rs window switches, power lock, mirror switch. RS window works with it's switch. Also the ls glass is in the full up position so the glass hits the rubber seal making the door near impossible to close. I checked the #15 25 amp fuse in the ls dash fuse box and it's good. The ls switch has power. That is as far as I've gone. I'm guessing the door module or broken wires in the hinge area but I thought I'd check here first to see if there are any common fixes for a completely dead door.

Chances are it is a broken wire or bad module, but I would start with removing and re-seating the bayonet connector between body and the door just in case the contacts got oxidized. It removes with a counterclockwise twist.

Also, did you have a lot of rain right before it happened? If so, water might be in the module or connector, though it is not that common a problem on this car.

This one worked for me when I had very similar problems with the electrics on my drivers door. Lots of contact cleaner then a blast of WD40.

I got around to checking the car last night but when I did everything was working. I did have to reset the window regulator. I went ahead and checked the connector in the jam but everything looked dry and corrosion free. I wiggled the wiring in the jam with no results.

This morning as she left the auto lock feature didn't work, window did. Later she tried the fob and the power locks worked. At the same time the auto lock started working.

Unless anyone has better advice I think I'm going to swap the door modules and see if the gremlins move to the right door.
