driver's power seat

My driver's seat will not move forward when I push the button. All other functions work, except to move the seat forward. If I move the seat back, then hit the memory button, the seat moves forward back in to position. So I'm confused why the switch just doesn't move the seat up. Where should I start to fix this problem?ss

That's what I'm thinking. The motor and the seat controller seem to be fine, but the switch might be bad. Are you at all handy with a multimeter? It would be pretty easy to verify that the switch is bad. Heck... try mashing the button really hard. Maybe the contact is just dirty.
I'm sure you can find the replacement assembly at a junkyard, on eBay, or somewhere else online. It's very easy to remove and replace. Just look for my door card removal video, but stop before actually removing the door card.

Gus has a link to an XJ6 switch repair/cleaning that looks similar, but I am not 100% certain the construction is the same:

It still could easily be the module under the seat. The switches send signals to the module to activate relays inside to power the seat motors. The memory chip in the module can also activate the relays.
These modules seem to have an issue with corrosion along the back edge eating through the copper traces of the circuit board, if those happen to be the signal lines from the forwad switch that would explain it.
I just recently fixed about 8 traces on my passenger seat module and got it fully functional again.
If you want to check the switch easy, and can use a volt meter, unplug the connectors from the module under the seat, find a blue and yellow wire next to an orange and yellow wire. The blue and yellow is the signal from the switch to the module to move forward, and orange an yellow is the signal to move backward. You should see approximate battery voltage on these wires when the appropriate switch is activated.
If you get the voltage you should on that wire, the module is probably bad. They seem pretty easy to fix - at least to me, but I've worked on electronics for a few years now.
See this thread, specifically the link from Gus in post #6. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=27096
Removing the module can be done fairly easy without removing the seat. The module is attached to a metal bracket that is bolted to the seat bottom, so raise the seat as high as you can, and remove the two 10mm nuts at either end of the module then the module can come out with the bracket attached.
