Drivers Window "knock" Going Down but Not Up?
I would have thought this would be so easy to see where the interference is but I can't. Noises and vibration appears to come from the large square aluminum bracket that holds the glass on the left as seen from inside the car. When the window is going down at about the half way stage something interferes and a knock/bang type sound is heard and the window shudders. Window going up no issue.
Anyone had this issue or got any ideas?

Mike, is the alignment ok all the way up and down? IOW not cockeyed right? If ok that eliminates the common loose adjustment bolt towards the back of the door more than 1/2 way up. When loose the bolt will move in its channel as window height changes.
Could a piece of debris be caught in the horizontal window channel? Problem with this idea is that experience showed me it will stop the window travel...guess something small and hard enough could be bypassed with a clunk.
Probably the best thing is to take the door card off and get a better view of what's going on. Not sure if you have ever done it yet, it's easy. Less than 5 minutes after the 1st time. Let us know if you want instructions.
Ttytt the fault in only 1 direction stumps me. With the door card off I bet you'll be able to zero in on the problem area fast.

Ok good feedback. Now I wonder is it the regulator or the windows travel. Idea: disconnect the window from the regulator assembly. . Position window in up position. Allows you to run regulator and listen for clunk.
If no noise, manually move window down and up to look for noise. Let me check to see if this interests you friend before I write a procedure. Not a very difficult job at all.
Dont put your hands inside before you disconnect power!!
Let us know.

1. Are the screws holding the whole mechanism to the inner door tight? Other screws? Decades in, there is no telling what has come loose. All of the torx screws holding the mechanism were loose on one of my doors which was causing a pronounced noise.
2. Have you looked for the 'buffers' to the front (one large one on the outboard side of the door) and smaller ones rear of the door. See the thread below. If they are not there (usually fallen into the door well), they can cause various 'thunks'. For me, this is the most common source of 'thunk'.3. Other interactions listed in the pdf on window adjustment above.
