A number of posts have indicated that this car has all the symptoms of a bad battery and I agree. The car is 5 years old and sits most of the time, death to a battery. I would get the battery load tested and be sure that is not the problem, then look at the main cables and grounds to the battery. These sensors and circuits operate on low voltages, making them sensitive to low battery amperage. The car has such low use, real system problems are unlikely. No matter what, I think the problem is due to a bad connection restricting power to components. If the battery tests good for amperage on load, start disassembling key connectors and spraying them with electronics spray.

I agree with Brian that batteries have given us strange situations requiring review when all it was, was in fact a weak battery. I think right now I will see what Jag finds. Many suggestions were offered and it will be interesting to see what they come up with. Please be sure to let us know.

I would recommend a battery tender ( a small inexpensive charger that senses when the battery needs charging, usually under $50.00) for cars that are not driven everyday. Our lift truck sometimes sits for a month at a time. Our battery for it would last about a 1 to 2 years. Since we had it on the battery tender the battery is going on four years old. I have installed them on all of our cars that aren't driven daily, and it has kept the batteries charged.
