Default Dtc 1649

I have a 2001 XKR silverstone edition with the supercharged 4.0l. Problem im running into is a dtc 1649. cant find a wiring diagramany where and what info i can find seems so point to a short in either power or ground to the DLC.... Any information would be apprecieated. thank you

That is an unusual code..it says there is a signal shorted on the Data Link Connector where the OBDII reader plugs in.

If it was my car, first thing I would do is clear the code. Then I would retest it with a different brand of OBDII reader (you can often get this done free at Autozone or Advance Auto Parts).

If you still get the same code, I would then look up inside the connector under the dash and check for shorted or bent pins with a bright light.

If this does not uncover the problem, post back here....you will then need to use a multimeter and perform some tests to track down the short or open.

sorry i should have put down more info... yes i have found that it was either a short in b+ or dround to the dlc and yes i have traced wiring for kinks and breaks. i have power to the connector but intermnittenly lose power to the dlc.... a wiring diag of the dlc would be ideal

Here is the DLC page. If you find you need the full car diagram, you should search the forum for instructions on downloading JTIS....it is too large to upload.

Also, according to forum rules, you will not be able to download this until you have 10 posts and 3 days have passed since registration.

thanks white... i actually have jtis but its a little bit of a pain navigating. the pdf u sent wouldnt let me open it said i was not allowed but i will keep looking throug jtis.... problem im running into is wires on thier diagram arent matching whats in the vehilcle

Let me know if you are unsure of how to intepret any symbols on the diagram. Also, occasionally the wire colors are wrong, but the pin numbers are usually correct.
