ECU gone bad! LOOK FOR IT ALL OVER THE US, CAN'T FIND A REBUILT ONE!!
Hello,
My computer (ECU) went bad. I looked everywhere in the US for a rebuilt one for a XK8 1997. Some shops have told me things like "that part does not exist in this planet" or "there are none available in the US, not even new". I want to buy a rebuilt one, I refuse to spend $5000 or more in a new one for this car (if it really is available), it just does not make sense spending that much money. I talked to my local mechanic again today and he says that he can get me a rebuilt one for $2500, still a great deal of money. Then I came accross AutoTech Microsystems (http://www.ecudirect.com/aboutus/), which guarantees rebuilding my current unit in my car for $750.00 with a lifetime guarantee - only thing is that Imight have to "reprogram" the ECU with the local dealer?!? Any suggestions? Does anyone has heard about this company or rebuilding an ECU and installing it in a XK8 1997 successfully? Should I take the $2500 deal as horrible as it sounds? Please someone provide some insight to this issue.
Thank you,

Hay, take a look at your part number on your ecu. then give these guys a call http://www.britishrecycling.com/index.html 1-888-908-7575
they said depending on your part # they may have it in stock. they sell them for 450.0 plus a 6month warranty. I just got a new instrument cluster from them for 250.00. The dealer wanted 4K

Man, I've got to start saving these links! Why do Dealers try so hard to rip people off? It's not just the Jag personna but it happens with every Dealership. They virtually guarantee nobody but fool,s and those with warranty claims, will use them.

I think that the rip off issue is again another reason for the decline of new jag sales in the us. Its funny, most all of my friends look at my car and they love it, and they want one. But they all have the stigma in there heads about how much they cost. well i tell them i got mine for 19k. But then they all say, But i bet the parts are $$$$. No S!@T.
