Default Emissions Recall J004 (2004-2005)

I just opened my mail and have a voluntary recall notice for 2004-2006 XK and 2004-2007 X-Types. Thought I'd post it here in case you don't get a notice. They say it is only a 30 minute adjustment. Think I will post it somewhere else so the X-Type folks see it to.

This is the recall Real_Tech has been warning everyone NOT to have performed until the software can be corrected so it does not result in disabling the car. First mention of its application to XK I have seen, but anyone who reads this needs to search for other recent threads and wait for Real_Tech to sound the all-clear.

Thanks, I will wait for Real_Tech. The notice does address software "Revised On-Board Diagnostic Software", "Jaguar dealers will reconfigure the engine control module (ECM) and, where appropriate, the transmission control module (TCM). If your vehicle requires reconfiruation of the TCM, the transmission shift quality will improve over time as it adaps to your individual driving requirements."

Go to X Type, search same recall number. It was very cool of you to share the info you just received, thanks for that. This time is hopefully an unusual event.

No problems with the software for XKs you can have it done with no worrys. I didn't realize they had already sent out the XK letters, I thought they were going to get more X-types done first.

Got mine in the mail today also. So it sounds like there is no harm in getting this done soon? I assume it will not have any negative impact on performance.

New to the forum, this is my first post.
I had the recall service done today on my 05 XK and all appears well. Have driven about 140 miles highway and city driving. If anything the transmission shifts appear to be smoother.

Brought my '04 XKR in yesterday for the recall. I also asked the Service Manager if a tech would reinstall the seat control module under the passenger seat as it had fallen off recently. They did and did not charge. I love Jaguar service!

It took about an hour and a half total and I too noticed the shifts seemed a bit smoother on the way home.
