Engine Fault
#21
Damo,
I did a little checking around and called my source at Jaguar and they told me that they show no listings for a P1777 or P1778. I would recommend that you check the codes again.
In rereading your no start I would first check all your power connections since you said you found one loose and be sure the battery is fully charged. A low battery will throw false codes that will often mislead you. The next time you are unable to start move the shifter from “P” to “N” and give it a try and see what takes place.

AQs far as the oil pressure gauge, it should show pressure if you crank long enough. This is how new rebuilds are pre-oiled, cranked with no spark until the pressure goes up.

From what I have been told and from what I can find the P1777 & P01778 do not relate to a Jaguar fault or condition. As best I can tell they are connected to Hyundai – Transmission and Ignition. I agree that the car is trying to tell you something but if the codes are not assigned then it is a guessing game.

All,
As i hate when nobody post the results just wanted to checkin and give you an update:
Parts so far replaced:
Throttle body,MAF, Crank Shaft sensor, Battery.
Now the engine is still turning over but will not start. The problem is no loinger intermittent. Currently taking the ECU to the Jag dealers to test it. The engine fault is coming up all the time but hasnt registered any error.
Fingers crossed I will get to the bottom of it
