Default Evap purge valve - must I remove wheel well covers

I'm accustomed to my xj40 and I need to change the purge
valve on my sisters 2002 xk8. Must I take the entire wheel
well cover off or just loosen the front portion?

Also I have a question about the connector to the purge
valve. It isn't a bosch type or PM type connector, do you just pull
it apart or are there ears that need to be pressed to
release them?

IIRC, no tools required, and connections were either hose over nipples and electrical harness plug...can't recall if it had a depressed-tab or not. Its very self-explanatory when you remove the wheel well cover. The rearward part, at least...but you might as well do the front side of it also (only another 4 fasteners), it'll keep you from getting the plastic-scratches on your arm when you're working in that area.
