Talking Exhaust sound modification 2000 XK8

Love my 2000 XK8, the exhaust is too quiet for me. I started by removing front muffler and welded in pipe to each side. Exhaust sounded better but not quite enough. I removed rear mufflers and replaced with pipe. Now the exhaust is awesome. Very throaty on normal acceleration but loud when full throttle. Very nice sound at idle in gear or park. Total cost $350.00. I used the factory tips as I did not want to change the look.

I'll bet it's LOUD!!

Basically you have Straight Pipes! As you have removed all the Muffling that's on the Car! To each his own my Friend!

He should still have the two middle mufflers too though, as long as I'm reading it correctly. Did it mainly make a difference in the sound when under acceleration with the middle box out?

I do have the middle mufflers in place. With that being said engine has a very nice purr thru the gears in normal mode. Using the sport shift mode gets a little louder due to RPM increase. Wide open load exhaust.

jedsenior,
So your Exhaust system consist of the big Front Muffler where (2) Pipes go in and (2) Pipes out and two tail pipes back to the Tips. Still pretty loud that way...I've removed the big Front Muffler and replaced it with a Magnaflow double Muffler, removed the little Intermediate Mufflers and replaced the rear Mufflers with 3 chambered Flo-Masters....Sorry, but your way is just to loud for me!!!

It's probably loud, but no, he took out the big center muffler that two pipes go into, left in the two small intermediate mufflers, and deleted the two rear muffler.

Wow!

If it is set-up with only the intermediate silencers then I know it is Loud!

Well, to each his own......…
