Default facia speaker problem

When I purchased my 99 xk8, the facia speakers were missing. Found two on eBay in working order. Installed them, but no sound. Appears to be no current coming from wires. All other speakers work fine. Before I tear everything apart to find the problem, does anyone have any ideas?

Perhaps you have the base audio and not the premium sound system? The base system on UK spec vehicles didn't have fascia speakers in the standard build and I'd expect US spec to be the same.

I tried the same thing with the same results. I have the base sound system.

The Base System in the early XKs has the wiring for the Dash Speakers in a Harness, from the Speaker Cavities to a connector under the Armrest.

The wiring dead ends at that point. In the Premium System only, a rear harness connects the speakers to the Premium Amp.

That's certainly possible. I guess I will have to pull the radio and check the connections. Thanks.

Does anyone know if the premium amp can be added to the base system, assuming I can find one.

It can be done but it's not worth the effort involved, as you need a jaguar premium harness to run from the armrest to the amp. You would be better putting in aftermarket amp and speakers. You won't find the harness connectors for the facia speakers at the head unit, they are under the centre armrest.
