What was the condition of the cylinder bores?

a little over 170000 miles - never would have expected that either. Shop owner said once they pulled apart, he inspected and everything looked good other than what is pictured

Bob - yes he did!!!

I'll bring the rope and the beer, just need sandwiches. Buddy won't be telling stories again.

Congrats on getting her fixed. My original tensioners had half your mileage and they were both cracked and ready to go!

Good you are back on the road.
This must be the record for the early ones.

I was so worried about the motor in the 41K mile '98 I bought I wouldn't drive it until I pulled the valve cover and low and behold someone had already put the metal body tensioners in it.

No way you would have driven it this long if you had known.

You are a brave one RobRoy.
When faced with adversity the true hero does what needs to be done without regard to self!

BobRoy, Sorry for the name mistake. I must need a RobRoy to help me unlock the camshaft to put in my chain tensioners!

it was engineered to be as light as possible. they got another supplier to change the design because it was too loud. the new style tensioners came with it.

Bob Roy,
Must have been the courage to take on that frozen engine in the 2000 XKR.
I was impressed!
