Default fault codes how to?

how does everyone get codes. searching this forum everyone mentions codes. how do i get 1. i think the throttlebody position sensor is going because car does not have power when i put foot down and say poor performance on dash?its a 2000 xk8

You need an obdii code reader to read the codes, then you cross-reference the code from the car with the list that Gus posted above. You can buy code readers for less than $100 at an auto parts store, or you can just ask them to read the code for you. Most auto parts stores will do it for free.
