Fair question... I got a set for my 2002 XK8... Shoot, if it was me, no matter WHAT I (or anyone on here said) I would trust, but verify for my vehicle...
So, these fit and are an alternative gasket for the 4.0 liter XK8,,, range,,, I'm not sure.

Oh I would verify if I were to order them for my car but I thought it would be good information to have in this post.

The set covers all Lincoln ls 3.9L V8s, apparently. They are supposed to be a direct crossover to the AJ27 and there are some posts from members who have had success using them. So, you should be good for 2002.
At some point late in the 98 MY Jaguar changed from the (IMO more substantial) grey and orange gaskets to the thinner black ones, coupled with separate seals for the spark plug wells rather than the 'pair of spectacles' used in the earlier cars.
I checked JEPC to try to determine the change point, but it's not entirely clear. Most logical, if it's correct, is that the above should work from engine #98100001 9810290001

Man this is great news! I would trust Fel Pro over the MAHLE set I just bought; wish I would have known a couple months ago!?!?! Grrrrrr, going to get a set for the XKR anyway and i should be able to snap a few comparison pics. That price is amazing!!!!
Anyone who has done this or priced the individual part #s will know. If you're not doing all the little aperature/spark plug seals you definitely aren't being smart while you're in there.
@motorcarman , as a side bar, what gaskets do you use for the timing cover? Any particular sources/hacks for this?
