Default First job done - Sway bar bushings replaced

Ok, today I completed my first job on my 2001 XKR

at around 45-70mph my steering would shake , I also recently noticed that when in reverse and at full lock i would hear a clunking sound.

After lots of reading on this great forum :-) I took a chance and decided to replace the front sway bar (anti roll bar) bushings.

I undertook this job after reading H20Boys tutorial and watching Rev Sams video and used a combination of both.
A big thank you to these guys for for their work, as without them I wouldnt have even had a go.

I jacked the car up and placed it on axle stands, from here I was then able to make enough room to remove and replace the bushings without removing the wheels, wheel arch liners or the sway bar end link.

It was very fiddley but just about managed it.

I took the car for a test drive.... full lock reverse and no clunking :-)
although the car now feels like it holds the road a little better and is firmer, the vibration still exsists.

Whilst fitting the bushings i did notice that the upper wishbone bushings on both sides where pereshing and there was loose bits of rubber hanging off them, so I am hoping that this may be the issue.

This will be my next job, in a few weeks or so, but at the moment im just going to enjoy driving it whilst the English summer is upon us, as it may not last too long :-)

Great result on the clunk elimination and thanks for the heads up about the English Summer. I've been working indoors today and almost missed it.
