So the PO had the cooling system redone except for the radiator....yup, you guessed it, radiator developed a leak (in the typical spot) so I found the threads on here that I needed and was prepped to get Rock's last radiator when Kelly got the mechanic to meet her in the middle on replacement cost ($390) plus a 24 month warranty...warranty was the selling point. They had it done day before yesterday...fast forward to tonight, I want to check it out and the first thing I notice is they broke the engine cover on the driver side...AAAAAARRRRRGH!!!!
So now I get to go back to the shop tomorrow and let them know they owe us/Kelly a cover. Pretty safe bet they aren't going to want to work on the car ever again which sux because they have a Jag mechanic on staff.
No matter, I guess, I found a used cover (in great shape) on Amazon so I'll let them know that source and take it in to be replaced when they get the part.
Cliffs for the TLDR crowd - Damn mechanic broke engine cover fixing radiator!

Well, it depends... if they are a good shop they'll make it right and won't hold it against you. If they don't, you really don't want to keep doing business with them anyway.
It's a shame they broke your engine cover, but at least this was a "low cost" way to find out what kind of operation they run. These kinds of things happen all the time and a good shop should handle it right.
I've had similar experiences with shops in the past, and in many cases they ended up handling it well and being my go-to shop.
Good luck!
