Default Fitting a DVD player - Parking Brake switch cable.

Hi

I am fitting a DVD player headunit and I need to connect a cable to the handbrake / parking brake switch, so that it will earth with the brake on.

I am looking to find the easiest access point and I was hoping is passes through the centre consol, but I can't find an Orange cable with a blUe stripe on it in there. (The OU cable colour indicated in the electrical guide).

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Oh and its right hand drive.

regards

Why don't you just earth that signal without the parking brake wire. Isn't that to protect you from watching movies while in motion? Unless you have a teenage driver, you probably can trust yourself not to do that.

My wife drives it and is a random button presser. So I need to add this to stop her freeking out if ipod vids started playing.

Also being a cabrio any vids that play would be visible to passing policemen.

When I read the question last night, I did wonder 'why?' !

You should be able to get down behind the transmission tunnel carpet:

There's a slit beneath the driver's seat in the middle where the harness emerges for the seat module. Getting a 'pull through' from the side of the tunnel across to there should be easy. Similarly from there across to the handbrake assembly where there's another cut out in the carpet is a short distance.
