The idea that I had when I first watched this video is, If I could replace the weak rubber hose with high pressure hydraulic hose that sometimes lasts 40 + years in all sorts of weather conditions one would ever have to worry about them again and wouldn't be afraid to go on long trips as I am because of my nearly 19 yr old hoses. There is a local hydraulic hose shop near me that I'm going to check with on the subject.

I wonder if fuel injection clamps would be a better choice. Looks like a reasonable fix though!

No use in buying new factory hoses if you can't trust them. I'm not familiar with fuel injection clamps but it would be a cheap fix if one could just buy a few feet of hydraulic hose and some good clamps. I suppose the hightest pressure wouldn't of 60 to 70 lbs. probably less.

Just doing a quick look, lots of pumps say they are rated at around 1200psi, so i would think the high pressure side gets pretty high lol. This is a fuel injection type hose clamp

That would be a better clamp for even pressure around hose and strength. it also has beveled edges to prevent cutting hose.

I've been through a few oil line issues lately. A better fix is always welcome. I have a complete set of lines since I replaced them all, one new piece and 3 used. Not a good idea, don't ask how I know. I'm going to take the set to a braided line shop near me and have some made from the fittings. TM

I wrote about this issue several years ago here on the Forum re: one of my XJ-Rs with the same oil cooler lines. One of mine blew out and I found a hydraulics shop that cut me some hi-pressure hose to replace those sections. Just used good quality hose clamps to secure them after aligning the fittings to the cooler and engine block. I would also suggest NOT using the oem o-rings into the block, but find some very slightly oversized oil-compatible o-rings because my oem's leaked immediately. Never had even the tiniest leak on either hose or the fittings in the years since. Total cost about $40 !

I one could form the tinniest of bulg at tip of tubing and with a good clamp there would be no way the hose would ever blow off.

I've been researching hydraulic hose on the net. H5HT-12 5/8" SAE 100R5 High temp -40 F-300 F 1500 psi max working pressure 6000 min burst pressure. 1.08 OD 6.5 bend radius looks promising.

Will you re-use your existing fittings or will you source new ones?

I will reuse the old ones. It will be this winter if I decide to go ahead with it.
