Fixing leaking oil cooler lines

The idea that I had when I first watched this video is, If I could replace the weak rubber hose with high pressure hydraulic hose that sometimes lasts 40 + years in all sorts of weather conditions one would ever have to worry about them again and wouldn't be afraid to go on long trips as I am because of my nearly 19 yr old hoses. There is a local hydraulic hose shop near me that I'm going to check with on the subject.

I've been through a few oil line issues lately. A better fix is always welcome. I have a complete set of lines since I replaced them all, one new piece and 3 used. Not a good idea, don't ask how I know. I'm going to take the set to a braided line shop near me and have some made from the fittings. TM

I wrote about this issue several years ago here on the Forum re: one of my XJ-Rs with the same oil cooler lines. One of mine blew out and I found a hydraulics shop that cut me some hi-pressure hose to replace those sections. Just used good quality hose clamps to secure them after aligning the fittings to the cooler and engine block. I would also suggest NOT using the oem o-rings into the block, but find some very slightly oversized oil-compatible o-rings because my oem's leaked immediately. Never had even the tiniest leak on either hose or the fittings in the years since. Total cost about $40 !
