Flat Battery
Hi,
I left my XK8 here in France at the beginning of February and stupidly did not disconnect the battery, now it is flat. How can get access to the boot to charge the battery?
Don't be too hard on me guys, I normally disconnect the batteries before I leave for any length of time, I was pushed for time in February.
What a fool!!!!

Matthew,
With your nomadic lifestyle, even disconnecting the battery then re-charging and refitting on your return to France is never going to be the most satisfactory solution for reliability.
I've used one of these for several years on another winter stored vehicle:
www.ctek.com
It allows the battery to be left connected in 'maintenance mode' avoiding all the problems of low charge and battery deterioration through inactivity.

Graham,
Which model do you use? It looks like the £45 one will be up to keeping the battery topped up.
P.S. don't forget to locate the under bonnet terminals - you can charge but not start via them.
I put a dab of red nail varnish (the only colour I ever wear) on the plussitive cover so I don't 'act the pratt' (technical term) in an emergency.

I've had mine for quite a while, It's the CX7000 which looks to have been superseded by the MXS 5.0. I think you're right that the £45 one is perfectly adequate.
