Default Which fob ??

I know there are more than one model of remote fobs available for the XK8. Can I tell which one I need by the VIN? I tried asking the parts guy at the local Jag dealer, but he wouldn't tell me. A real d*ck .

I'm afraid you need the "expensive" one. LJA2610aa

The later models are much more plentiful and much cheaper.

I'm in the same boat, since I have a 16 year old kid, it's only a matter of time I'll need a spare.

many fobs will work, you can use a flip key fob from other style jaguars just for the fob functions and just remove the key.

That would be great if true. What other FOB's are 315mhz?

None of the XJ S-type XJR, etc 315mhz Key FOB's list XK8 as compatible.

I guess the Transponder Key isn't compatible, but the remote still works?

From my understanding the NAS market, only, uses 315hz. What exactly are you trying to achieve, replace a remote that isn't working, or getting a new one. As far as the keys go, even though they may be the same frequency, I don't think you can interchange keys from one model to the next. The early XK or X100, can't interchange with an S-type. Now the XJ350, late model S-Type and X-Type basically use the same key transponder and remote, and can program one to the other. Given that you have an early XK, you can't interchange.

If he had looked it up for you on JEPC, this is what you'd have seen:

(click on the image to enlarge it)

P/N LJA2610AA with a frequency of 315mhz.

Europe uses 433mhz which is no good for US spec vehicles.

If you source a used fob on ebay etc, you can programme it yourself without any tools. Keys must be programmed using dealer level Jaguar SDD.

Tis why I use me key as often as I can. Saves the remote when I really need it.

There are (2) 315mhz XK/XJ keyfob transmitters for North America. The VIN split is around 2000/2001 MY cars.

The EARLY one is pictured on the LEFT and the later one is pictured on the RIGHT.

The left is the LJA2610-AA, The right is a LJE2610-AB or LJE2610-AC.

The AC's are all over E-bay for $30 and are compatible with the Key in FOB mod. The AA's are usually twice this.

I just wanted to let everyone know that the inexpensive Ford Keyfobs work on our cars. I typed the fcc number on eBay was looking for a replacement and the Ford set came up super cheap so I tried them and they work.

I bought one of these off ebay to replace the rubber buttons in my fob which were starting to look worn.

Only 4 quid & a perfect fit.

You're kidding me! The buttons are exactly the same size? Mine are pretty tatty. That would be great! Simply brilliant.
