Front end wobble when braking
Hi everyone, just joined this forum as i have a funny problem, know these places are best for advice, and hopefully you can help.
98 XK8 coupe, 36k.
I've had the car for a couple of months without any problems, every once in a while the ABS light comes on, but after reading other posts am suspecting a dirty wheel sensor as it happens about once a month.
The main cause for concern is that occasionally under heavy braking the front end of car will shift about 30cm either right or left, it feels like its apply more braking pressure to one caliper.
Pads/discs are relatively new within the last 5000 miles and the calipers were serviced about the same distance ago.
It usually happens if i'm turning while braking, e.g changing lanes on ther motorway in heavy traffic. again doesn't happen all the time, about once a month but then how often are you braking heavily........
i just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced it? Its a little bit scary if you're coming down from 70 - 30 in traffic and then the car pulls of its own accord
many thanks

I'm no suspension expert, though I have replaced almost everything under her, but I would suspect a random 'redirection' may be caused by a control arm, or even an extremely worn bushing(s). There's other suspension guys on here that can help you morso than just me....thank goodness.
If you think it is brake caliper related, you can always rebuild the calipers, or at least lube the caliper pistons (<- don't know the technical term) to make sure there isn't any 'bias' from one side to the other.

'Random Redirection' - i couldn't of put it better, thats exactly whats happening.
but i'm not getting any other issues related with worn suspension parts -, no oversteer associated with balljoints i think, tyre wear is spot on, scrubbing the inside edge of the fronts ever so slightly, and she corners like she's on rails, no clunks or whistles either
but i'll check them out like you said
Thanks

To be honest i'm not actually sure, it always seems to happen though when i only have 1 finger on the wheel, will have to wait till it happens again and i'll see if it moves.
