Default Front fog lamp bulb spec '97 XK8 ???

Hi gents,

What is the generic replacement bulb spec/designation/JaguarPartNumber for the front fog lamp-bulb please? I think the SNG Barratt catalog is not entirely accurate here...

Any info as to the dismantling of the fog lamp assembly for bulb replacement would be really helpful... TIA

It's a standard Halogen H3 - 12v 55w - not sure they are in Tesco but you'll find one in Halfords or any half-decent car accessory shop.

As Graham's instructions - quarter turn and pull out. Move connector from old bulb to new. Push back in - quarter turn. Job done.

Graham & David,

I pulled the bulb as per instructions Graham posted. The part number given is correct, but the bulb is actually a H1 12V 55W Halogen Long Life, which is identical to the low beam headlamp bulb.

I'd gone out and bought an H3 bulb which wouldn't fit of course. After reinstalling the "failed" H1 bulb, it somehow came on again. So much for a 20 year old's wiring and bulb... Cheers & happy motoring !!!

Sorry for the wrong info - the Driver's Handbook says H3 but you're correct - it is a H1.

I too have been badly misled by the Jaguar Vehicle Care Handbook p.70 which says Fog lamp - Front is a Halogen H3 long life... hahaha

David (DevonDavid) and Ronald (Pristine97XK8Convertible),

Well spotted.

I've edited my original reply to this from H3 to H1 to avoid misleading anyone reading this post in future.

I had also taken the information from the Vehicle Care Handbook which is incorrect. However, JEPC does give the correct bulb type:

Graham,

The JEPC is also somewhat misleading abecause the illustration did not separate the fog lamp bulb (H1) from the lamp holder socket, but refers to both coupled together as the bulb.
