The most common problem for the seat to stop operating is the seat module. If you look under the front of the seat you should see 2 bolt heads. I think from the last time I did it they are 10MM. Remove the 2 bolts and the seat module can be removed. Do the same thing on the passenger seat and then plug the module from the passenger seat into the driver seat plugs. You should now be able to move the seat.
If that works then your seat module needs to be repaired. Let me know it worked and I will dig up the phone number for a great fellow in California that repairs them. He has done 100's for the forum members.

Here's the Seat Module fixings on a 2005. The 2000 is similar:

There's not a lot of room to work beneath the seat so it helps to know what you're trying to find.

Recently had the same issue. Before you remove the seat make sure the connection(on the driver side it is in the right side of the seat) hasn't been dislodged. I moved mine too far forward and it quit. Reseating(pun intended) resolved the issue.

Ok I switched the seat module and still nothing, I did check the driver's side seat module fuse in the facia side fuse panel and no power with the key off and I think there should be power to that fuse.

I'm going to try to check the right side of the seat for the connector to be pulled out.

thanks everyone for your help

You could try disconnecting the yellow multiplug going to the seat, spray with contact cleaner and reconnect. I occasionally have to do that with mine to get it to work.

Is Fuse 8 (5 amp) in the same box OK? It's for the driver's seat switchpack.

I recently fought both seats that had frozen motors. (2000 XKR). Before I figure out my solution I had hot wired the motor with a direct battery lead proving it was dead. it's fingertip work but you can get the white plug from the motor harness free and tap the two pins to see if the motor is working). If you can "manually" get the motor to move, then you can fairly easily remove the seat. In my case, I had to unbolt the seats from the track system because the motors were rusted solid. (ratcheting box end and a t40 bit) then start the rebuild.

Good luck and keep us posted!
