Front seats backs interchangeable?

Front seats backs interchangeable?
Let me explain. I just installed a replacement passenger seat. The original one's seat was well worn, leather wore out.
Here's the thing: that original seat's back is in perfectly good shape. My driver's seat back is quite worn. No matter how many times I told myself not to, it is just far too easy to lean on the outside of the back and slide down into position.
I'm sure some of us have disassembled the seats for various reasons. My question is: if I could live with the release lever on the wrong side, could I replace my driver's seat back with the back from the passenger seat? Besides that lever are the seats chiral? Hmm (laughing at self) there's got to be a better word than that sounds like I'm trying to impress you all, but you know me better than that by now ;-).
I have no clue how the latch secures the seatback, I guess that could be a show stopper. Well worst case I'm just faced with slipping the leather + foam off. Sure sounds easier to just swap the whole back.
Please let me know what you think, thanks!
John
PS: cool fact. Did you know that spearmint and caraway molecules are identical in all ways but one, they exhibit chirality. While they are mirror images of each other yet they are non-superimposable! Hey you never know, it could be a great opening line sometime. (Maybe at a bar around MIT?)

Johnken,
Never heard of Chirality before! Always good to learn new words.
Having worked on the XK8 seats, the connections from the back to the seat are a pain to disassemble (but doable). IMHO It's far easier to slip the bad leather off the back and re-work. The new covers are readily available and I found if you use silicon spray on foam, new covers slip on quite easily. Trouble is the new colour never quite matches, but I can live with that.
