Front Shocks - Huge Price Variations FYI
I just finished shopping for front shocks & shock mounts 1998 XK8 non adaptive. I need to give you a heads up - the prices for the shocks range from $106.00 (PartsGeek) to $440 (who cares about that name) for 1 shock absorber!
I wound up ordering from Partsgeek and will report back if they are not the exact Bilstein replacements promised. It did concern me that Partsgeek was not reachable via their 1800 number and they do charge tax on an internet transaction but what can you do. . .
I did run this by SNG Barrett, one of our sponsers. They couldn't have been nicer. They looked it up and politely explained that they pay more for them than that. I see that several of our members have used Partsgeek in the past and I haven't seen any complaints. A quick search shows one or two other companies selling these for $115 - $125 so that gives me hope.
You know this pricing disparity was just so large I wanted to help you save time when you look for this down the road. Hopefully I'll get the OEM replacements for just $106 per shock and all will be well. I'd hate to see folks spend more than twice that amount (the average listed price is around $240) if it can be had for only $106.
As stated I will follow up if this doesn't go well.

Jon, my last job on a 2003, which are the same, was also $103 from PartsGeek. They were OEM as far I could tell, comparing them to the ones I took out. I think the lower bushings is more the trouble than the shock itself.
Not a bad job, just be careful and replace the upper "A" arm bushings while you are at it, the shims behind the bushings need to be installed as they come out. Oh, watch Rev. Sam's video on this and it will enlighten you no end.
