Fuel filter change
2000 XK8 fuel filter change. I have done this on an XJ6 and I know some petrol drains down but this time it just kept on coming. I have seen references to 8 oz but I got more like a litre before giving up. I confess I didn't pull the pump fuse and stall the engine so how much fuel should I expect?
Thanks

I was planning to do this after finding a new filter in the trunk when I bought it . Thought I might try to find a bolt to fit the threads and then remove the engine side pipe ,fit the bolt to stop the leakage ,fit the front pipe and then do the back quick.
Does anybody know the thread ...everything here in UK is metric.

I think you'll find there is no real pressure so that you may get away with a push on plastic fitting like you get on brake hoses. That's the route I plan to take to buy some time. On the XJ6 there was a lot more give in the pipework so it was easier to get the filter away from the pipes. I think I may also remove the whole clamp fitting which is held on by two captive bolts (I think).
I was baffled as to why it just kept coming.
