Fuel Gauge Stuck on Full!

Fuel Gauge Stuck on Full!
So I filled up the tank in my new XKR for the first time ever...all the way full. The gauge has stayed ever so slightly above the full needle for about 100 miles now...so it must be stuck. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe there is a float that could be the issue. How do I move the float perhaps out of its stuck position? Or does this have to do with a bad wire / cluster? Odd because the gauge has always worked perfectly fine, I also gave the gas tank a good couple whacks to dislodge anything stuck, but no luck! Important to fix as we have a drag race outing tomorrow

Float could have leaked and sunk. Track on the unit failed etc.
First pull the wire off the tank unit ..turn on and check the gauge . Then while someone watches touch the tank wire to the earth of the tank. The gauge should move up and down when you do this. (tests gauge and wire from tank) .If it tests OK then replace the tank unit ..its half way up on the back so you need the tank empty..simplest way is to disconnect at the fuel filter and let the pump empty the tank not onto the floor Ha Ha.
Dont try to remove the tank or you will be in a world of pain.

Good news! Turns out my gauge wasn't really stuck, it just shows full until the tank is *probably* at 3/4. Slowly lowers and is 3/5 full *probably* when it shows 1/2 on the gauge. When the needle shows 1/4, tank is *probably* only really 1/6 full. My drive is the same every day so this is based on my observations. Doesn't really concern me, I remember this from my XK8- is this just a normal x100 thing? Once you memorize how the gauge behaves it's easy to guesstimate how much gas is in the tank. I doubt the gauge is ever completely right because of how it behaves when the needle is above half versus below half.

Or maybe you hadn't used as much fuel as you thought you did and still had a full-ish tank?
