Default Fuel Injector O ring change

Hello great brain trust,
Has anyone noticed that the O ring for the fuel injector in a 2000 XK8 has changed size?

The small one on the left is the old one and the larger one on the left is the Mahle GS33276.

Does anyone know if this change is OK?

And which left do you mean?

Not being a smart a**, if these fit in the manifold bosses, clearly one is much larger (or smaller) so something isn't going to work.

I highly, highly doubt that Mahle one will work. The ID is much, much smaller

Default My bad

The left one is the original, the one on the right is the new one.

I appreciate your input, clearly something is out of whack.

The sad thing is, I went to four different auto parts stores and looked at everything from Fel Pro to Mahle and they are all the larger size O rings.

I have tried putting the larger one on and the fuel injector does not want to go back into the intake manifold.

Looks like I will have to go to the Jaguar dealership and see what they have

Has anyone else run into to this change?

Probably cheaper to buy an o-ring assortment, especially if you're just doing one or two injectors

You have 2 "O"'s one on the top and the other on the bottom of the injector you also have another that is where the injector goes into the manifold. The one on the right looks like it is the lower "O" ring

Just to be clear, and not really sure why it would be confusing if you are actually looking at an injector, but the "fat" one is the top to the fuel rail, and the smaller one is the seal at the intake manifold port. See photo below where "fat" one is orange, and smaller o-ring is at the far left.

Smile And the hits just keep coming

64Vette is correct about the O ring for the fuel rail. Thank you.

This appears to be the O ring that all the auto parts places sell you.

The O ring on the business end of the injector turns out to be another issue:

I went to the Jaguar dealer today and was told "Jaguar did not expect owners to do their own maintenance", so on their parts display, they can only see one item and that is the entire fuel injector, so he offered to sell me the O ring for only $290 and he would give me the injector for free.

He really was nice about it, he even recommended that I go to the Ford dealership and inquire about the 2002 Lincoln LS and see if they would have the O ring.

So I went to the Ford dealership.

Sorry to say, they only offer the entire fuel injector as well.

So much for trying to be proactive and replace an O ring that is 15 years old and due for replacement.

If anyone has found a great O ring assortment at your local hardware store that guarantees a no leak for a 2000 Jaguar XK8, I am deeply interested!

Thanks again for all the help, we will keep these great cars running with a little Yankee ingenuity

In San Diego We have Marshall's Industrial Hardware. It has every O-ring ever made as well as any screw or bolt you might need. I would assume there would be a store like that somewhere in Colorado.

Injector RX supplies new O-rings when they clean your injectors. They might sell them as sets also. https://www.injectorrx.com/

That's the best suggestion.

They supply them in the correct viton material needed
to counteract the effects of ethanol.

They may be available elsewhere, but it is not just the
fit, it is the material.

I was just organizing the next big project and was online ID-ing the all the parts, which included injector O-Rings. I found a couple of Jaguar sites that had them listed separately. Note: their online catalogue had the upper and lower rings identified backward, so be safe and order both - just to be sure. ;-)
