Is the 4.2 XK8 part the same for the XKR part on the 4.2? Would be nice if there an option out there because at the moment for R owners you need to get a used part. They are a £700 part otherwise which is silly.

The graphic in the ebay listing says Volkswagen Beetle. Does the seller guarantee it will fit the Jaguar 4.2 cars? While I wish this is indeed the long-desired aftermarket solution, I am very skeptical....

The prices ARE silly (silly is a nice word).

I just bought one of these. 54bucks,,, I'll see what I get. It won't be soon soon, but sometime soon I'll put it in the car and test it out. I have the hole cut for access and can do it pretty quickly without a great fear of breaking something while doing the swap. We'll see. Always, looming in my mind, is the fear of the inevitable pump failure and the cost. I ain't a rich man.

There MUST be an alternative to the super expensive set up.

We have to make or find an alternative,,, is how I feel.

Please keep us posted. I already had to fork over those $700 a couple of years ago. A cheaper alternative would be great.

If it works with the supercharged cars I would buy like 4 of them and just have them stored away just in-case. £50 is dirt cheap.

I'm super skeptical... I really just want the pump out of the thing. I would like to know who manufactures the pump but that's not in the listing. I'll write them and see what they say.

My guess is that a Beetle requires much less fuel system pressure than an XK8 or XKR so I wonder if that pump is robust enough for the job....

Good luck and please keep us posted on your results....

We'll see... The beauty and whole point of returnless and PWM is that duty cycle rarely has pumps operating at 100% and usually from what I understand,,, it's much lower.

I don't want to waste 60bucks, but,,, yeah, we'll see. I'm starting to wonder why I ordered it, lol

JayjagJay!

Jay, After spending $700.00 to $800.00 4 or 5 times now for Fuel Pumps, I would try almost anything to beat the High Price from Jaguar......So, Please! , Please! let us know if this is the answer......!.

Default No on EBay pump

I bought one. The pump is a cheap smaller version. Wouldn’t even spin when wired into car. Garbage. I did salvage the check valve and float assy from it and got my old pump working correctly. You get what you pay for in this case.

AhhhhMan! Say it ain't so...?

I figured it would be small, size isn't everything and technology in pumps has changed a bit. Still, I'll remain optimistic until,,, then I'll smash the thing. I also planned on scavenging bits off of it if it didn't work out.

you can try to salvage a pump motor out of the X206, 250, 356, etc. I think they're made by VDO as well

Right, Xalt... It's the cost that folks (at least I) are trying to beat. I looked at the SType and others and it looks like they are a bit cheaper, but still a lot.

Looked at average costs for Volkswagen bits and they come in at the same as the eBay listing, comparitivly at least.

Thing is, smaller engines, maybe higher revs, but much smaller engines. Hmmm

Hey Guys,
I sourced a Deutsche Works high performance fuel pump with nearly increase 400% flow rates which i managed to fit into existing fuel cell given the old type dimensions of the oem pump (59mm) and most modern types being 39mm i think. This one was 52mm i think. If anyone interrsted can check the model number for you. Currwnt status is set up and working although not road tested as car waiting for dyno tune to get it back running after all the mods.........but it works anyhow!

Paddy Dunne!
Thanks for sending the message about the Fuel Pump Motor! I would appreciate it even more if you would try this Set-up out and let us know if it works properly. This is very important to me, as I have invested a good deal of Money in Jaguar Fuel Pumps over the past several years....As a matter of Fact! I have replaced 4 of them over the past 5 years at the cost of approximately $1,200.00 out of Pocket each time! The Pumps alone have been running around $750.00 of so each time and my Guy charges around $500.00 for the repair....So, as you see....It's pretty important to me....Really, Really appreciate whit ever you can let us know!
Please give the new Motor a check ride and determine if it is going to do the job properly or not.......Then, if you would be kind enough to give us all the details? I know that I would really appreciate it and I'm sure that the other Guys would also!

I would also be very interested. I would buy a couple just to have them to hand if anything did happen.

Super interested! There has to be a quality PWM style pump that can be strapped right into the basket... There just HAS to be. What these folks are charging for some of these parts is at least obnoxious, lol

Just to say. Initial observations.

I think anyone who is dead in the water pump wise might spend the 70$ and take a risk. Jus say'n

I have the 70$ pump assembly in hand. The company has been great asking followup questions as to whether things worked out and are ok - I have no answer for them at this point. I have not installed the pump and am feeling all kinds of lazy about it. Toooo many other projects and terrible heat here in the city.

The plastic casing is solid. Not cheap or brittle stuff. There is a fuel level sender which seems ok as well. I have no idea about accuracy. The wiring seems tough as does the tubing/piping and,,,,,.

The pump itself (from memories of holding the original VDO pump) is smaller, seems less stout or robust, but tech in pumps has come a ways since 2003 - I see adds for high performance aftermarket pumps this size that promise to deliver 100+ lbs of pressure, extreme applications, that are the size of the smaller pumps in the pre 2003 XK8, which are pretty small pumps. So I don't know what to think... Size ain't everything?

I also wonder if the seat of the plastic casing will match up, twist in properly and will be a snug fit in the tank. We'll see.

Anyways. I apologize. I will try to get to it and get thing in the tank and report back. Laaaazy days of summer - and the heat. It's been pretty extreme.

Strange, I,too, bought one and found it to be a very accurate copy of the original. I installed it in my 2003 XK8 and found that, connected directly to 12v. produced in excess of 70 lbs of pressure at the rail. And keep in mind that you can buy 10 for the price of one Jaguar unit. And once the hole is cut in the package shelf, it takes about 5 minutes to swap out a pump with NO tank removal !
