too funny. Ive had my black 2003 XK8 coupe for a few days now. Stopped by the gas station in my neighborhood, and the kid behind the counter asked if he could come look at it. At work, its all the rage. And when i was meeting some friends at a lounge downtown nashville last night, i got more looks and whistles than ever. Its kinda nice, but i gotta say its awkward as well. Its almost 10 years old and still sexy as hell. I suppose its a huge improvement over my last car...1997 lexus es300 with 200K miles

I'll toss this post into this thread, as it seems to work for two active discussions of how the "civilian" world reacts to our wee felines...

I remain impressed (though not shocked), that whenever the car is parked by people, inevitable people start hanging with the car. Was at a holiday service in parking lot with plenty of newer and similar-zone expensive (if my XKR had been as new) cars. I popped outside to grab something from the car. Soon had 6 people looking and asking questions, charmingly disbelieving the car was 12 years old.

I don't do the "new shiny car every three years" thing. Bought this one as I'd jaw dropped when I saw the XKR first time back in 1997 and waited until now to get the one I likely will own the next forty years. Here is link to my opening post here (which was added by the Mods to the XK8 forum from the Say Hi forum. Possibly the best post in the thread is the page 2 comment from the other fellow who took stab at the car when it popped up on ebay

Still, when ya see wee baby cat like this, it is little surprise that it stirs interest. The descriptor that seems to pop up for XK-8... timeless
