Default Gauge illumination

I noticed the gauges on my XKR are always illuminated, even in the daytime without the headlights being on. I assume this is by design but is there a way to turn off the illumination entirely?

Thanks,

Doug

I don't believe the dimmer switch on the steering column functions unless the headlights are on.

I think the gauge illumination is fixed when the lights are off.

If by fixed you mean always on at an unadjustable level then that is what I am asking about. It seems silly to have the gauges illuminated in the daytime, especially if the bulbs that provide the illumination are difficult to replace.

If they are easy to replace then in the words of Gilda Radner: never mind.
