Wow! You got a good deal. I paid $3,500. for the rebuild, $630 for labor but I got a break as my valve body was cracked ($350 used) and the trans mount ($133) flex disc ($140) also had to be replaced. $5,354. to be on the road again.

Ouch LaRue - that seems steep! I do get a discount from my indie for being a JCNA member - so that did help. Plus, I looked on line while before they determined rebuild was necessary and found a place selling rebuilt with 12month/12k mile warranty for 2250. Then I would have had to pay shipping, pay for install and pay to ship my core.
Jim - it's all good. Considering what I paid for her, her age and 30 months of relatively trouble free motoring prior to this I can't complain. Indeed it is nice to be driving her again vice the Smart for 2.

Another price for reference...albeit the slightly newer, 6hp26...my rebuild with a refurbished ZF torque converter, used valve body, and several valve body upgrades using Sonnax parts... $4500 in 2012.
Its good to have all this information in one thread where possible members facing similar bank account depletions can have a frame of reference and budget to plan for.
