Gear shift interlock, remote keyfob, et al
I just discovered that the transmission on my 2000 XK8 would not go into reverse. After a little reading in the parking lot of my bank, I was able to manually over ride the interlock failure. Much to my chagrin, it seems that several functions have failed - the remote keyfob does not work, the seat warmers do not work, and the automatic door locks do not actuate when the car is put into gear. It seems that all of these are controlled by various fuses. Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve this catastrophe?! I've owned this car since 2001 and haven't had a major problem since new. Thanks in advance.

With the several systems you identified I would go to the common source first . . . the battery. How old? Voltage with engine off? Voltage with engine running? Voltage with engine running all lights on? The next level up is probably the security system. Check the battery and let us know what you find.
