Hey Gus - yeah meant to call Eriksson earlier but didn't get the estimate until late afternoon. I did email them for pricing. I haven't authorized the shop to do anything other than assess the damages ($475 to pull transmission/inspect).

got a reply back from Eriksson -

We do not have one sitting on the shelf at this moment, but we can build one for you. Our price is $2295.00 plus $700 core deposit and freight ($400 to SC and return)
Transmission comes with torque converter, is full of OE oil, and dyno tested. Warranty is one year unlimited miles. We would need about a week before we could ship it.

thus being already into this for almost $500 for the current shop to drop/inspect the transmission and needing probably $500 to have someone install a rebuilt from Eriksson - there's not much of a savings if any at this time. This shop also warranties for 2 year/24000 mile. I should also have it back by Friday of this week

I think I will try to convince my daughter to buy me a lift - then I can start doing some of this work in my garage

Ouch! I would continue to converse with your shop manager regarding additional financial help from him. You have nothing to lose at this point....

I plan to - the individual I spoke with yesterday informed me - that about 6 months after they did my rebuild, they stopped buying torque converters from the company that they used for my rebuild - due to inferior quality - so I hope to use that tidbit as a bargaining chip as I feel they should have notified me in some way that I may experience problems

got car back today - owner not there to discuss cost but left message that I will come in, daily if necessary, so I can discuss with him. I do have to bring the car back for check in 2 weeks and then will get a free transmission service at 12 & 24 months as part of the warranty package - we shall see

In the interim - going to test drive an XE tomorrow so I have a back up

Thanks Gus - appreciate your assistance/support - yeah I'm hoping so too. Eriksson is a great deal if I had a lift to do the work myself but having to pay labor and all.
