Default Gearbox fault XK8 - RESOLVED

Hey Im new to this site but I have a 2000 jaguar xk8 with 118000 miles. I let the car sit for about 3 weeks then yesterday I went to start it up and I got gearbox fault on the message. I put the car in drive and it would move very slowly. Also the panic for the alarm keeps going off now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the battery is fully charged.

The battery will effect the gearbox fault?

Low charge or a failing battery will throw up all kinds of error messages.

Default shocked

I starting to charge my battery and it was over 13 volts so I thought It couldnt be the issue but was like what do I have to lose my charging it. Charged for a few hours turned the car on and boom no gearbox fault. I can't thank you guys enough I thought I was in for a lot of pain in the pocket. I am a believer lol I will not doubt you guys again. It is weird how something so small as a little low on voltage can trigger something so sever sounding. Thanks again guys

If you regularly leave the XK8 for three weeks, then a battery tender is a good investment.

I've amended your thread title to add 'RESOLVED' so anyone searching for information on the same issue in future can see the positive outcome.
