Another update, I changed the plug tonight and used another coil pack and also inspected the wiring harness as best I could. Then I re routed it to take some of the weight of the line using some cable ties, only 2 but it looks better and hopefully better than before. Took car for a test drive, about 10 miles round trip and all was well. Will find out tomorrow if its still code clear.

Arty, my heart bleeds.
No excuse. It's not like the loose bolt isn't in an obvious place, and anyone with any pride would at least have cleaned off the coolant (der-what's under this screw cap?)
+1 on batroute's comment. Little consolation, but I'd be gunning for a full refund and look elsewhere.
Wouldn't have these guys knocking knots out of planks of wood to make a***holes for rocking horses.
Easy to say, but don't give up - at 63k this girl isn't done for...

To be fair guys, as I said this is how the car was returned to me, but it was at two garages. The first garage fitted the first replacement box which did not work, then they fitted the second box from the gearbox shop, thenIit was driven back from the first garage to the gearbox specialist by their staff. It was there a month and thats the condition I got it back in. So between them that mess was made. The loose bolt and the electrical problem, whether it was the plug, coil or me re routing the harness and securing it lies firmly at the door of the gearbox specialist. Just my observations to date, I will contact them Monday to report the bumping issue and see what they say. Thanks for the support guys

Under normal circumstances so would I Graham. However when I bought the box I paid cash for it £750, and it was another £150 for a receipt, as it was warranted for 3 months and the place is relatively near and had a reasonable reputation, I bought it. One born every minute.
Anyway I contacted them again today and I was told the A drum and B drum were in mint condition when it was checked last time. SO I have to give them a ring on Friday to arrange taking the car down on Monday where I am hoping to get the loan of a car until it is fixed. Last time they told me they fitted a diaphragm to the unit and if the A drum is intact it can only be the valve pack or one of them. I believe they changed one in the pack on later models as it was causing the A drum problem. As I am into this to the tune of over £1200 I have to see how it pans out. I have to say they have never had a problem with doing the warranty work so I am in their hands, for now.....
Thanks for all the comments and advice, as always I will let you know how it pans out.

I wouldn't have any confidence in them at this point.

O.K here is todays update.
Took the car in for 08.30hrs this morning and spoke to the owner. Said he would check out the valve body in house as it was £480 for it to be tested in the Wirral ( Merseyside ) and £40 shipping so was not economically viable for him, so he stated if the repair did not work out this time he would give me a refund. Now that may sound all well and good but from my perspective I paid £750 for the box from him as a fully operational and serviced unit ready to go, and then paid £450 for my local garage to fit the thing. So how to proceed has me thinking at this time, bare in mind I do not have any paperwork for the work to this point, good job I did not pay the extra £150 VAT for a slip of paper with this outcome.
I am waiting for a call re the progress but suspect I will get a call in a few days saying they cannot repair it and give me my money back, this way they do not have to put any work into it or lose time on it costing them more money. Cynical I know but thats how I feel at this time, a wasted summer refurb wise.

Hi Gus, its slamming into 1st gear same as the original. The shop says the A and B drums are perfect, and its had new oil in again, so I believe it must be the valves in the valve body. It also sounded like the box was making a metal on metal sound, or it may have sounded like the chirruping noise associated with low fluid levels. Having said that its not leaking, more like not filled to correct level IMHO.
Thanks for asking.

This is a second trans with a second valve body or did they replace the valve body with the one in the old trans? Chances of having the same problem with both trans is slim but possible. I would be looking at having the trans control module checked, remember it tells the trans valve body what position to be in along with the ECM. You do know that the valve body can be replaced and they are available without removing the trans.
What are the codes they are getting if any?
