The whole wiper arm has to come off, along with the washer hoses. Be careful with those. I bought the air filter and then took the cowl off to replace the filter only to find out mine is a model that did not ship with the air filter system. I understand a few others on the forum have made the same mistake. I tossed mine into the attic.

I would suggest that effectively none of the US cars came equipped with a cabin filter unless it was ordered specifically that way. Anyone please feel free to contradict me. Without buying a filter I did remove the cowl to verify that I did not have one.

It's just that my blower system sucks, it does not blow hard as I think it should. If I have a filter in there that is orig, that could be my issue, clogged!

Well I tore mine apart and did not see anything. Not sure what I was looking for really. Ha ha ha. Is the housing, if it is there, DIRECTLY under the windshield dead center? Only other thing I saw was about a 6 inch opening with a plastic thing snapped into it that I pulled out that has some little rubber flap on it.

On my orginal post one of the guys said what part you need to order to hold the air filter. I bought my cabin filter to increase an order I was making to get free shipping. Didn;t work out to well.

Default getting cabin filter

BRGJAG, Is I mentioned in Linda's Jag thread, the early left hand drive cars don't have the pollen fliter. The wiper linkage hits the plastic housing. It sounds like you have the housing in place. It's kind of rectanglular in shape and on the upper right there is a rubber seal. It attaches in the middle of the firewall. Your piece might be a dealer installed item. Jack

Maybe I will open it back up when it gets warm someday, ha ha ha. Just odd that the spec sheet for the car calls out for it and it not be there when every other thing the sheet says I shoudl have is there. Who knows.
