Getting Headlight Water / Condensation out - My Solution
Hi All,
I know plenty of folks have posted about this issue and various ways to solve it, so here's mine...
1. Open bonnet.
2. Remove clear plastic covers from top of headlight unit.
3. Get a powerful 500W (or so) outdoor light.
4. Place light directly in-front of the headlight.
5. Bake until all the water has completely evaporated from inside.
In my case, there was WAY more water inside than I realised. I thought there was just some condensation, but there was maybe a 2mm pool in the bottom of the light. I suspect accumulated over many years. Anyway, this worked like a charm. Obviously the heat from the light evaporates the water and it saves you from running the engine for hours.. For me, (cold uk winter) it took around 6 hours or so - I just left it to it.
I'd leave it to cool down before replacing the plastic covers, because the warm air inside the light is capable of holding more moisture in gaseous form and if you seal it off whilst still warm, will probably condense as it cools.
Hopefully you can see the attached image..... hope this helps someone!
